Sanchi Stupa Travel Blog
First, let me give you some information about Sanchi Stupa so that you will enjoy reading my Sanchi Stupa travel blog. Sanchi Stupa is located in the Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh, India. Sanchi Stupa is one of the most important and famous Buddhist monuments depicting the architecture and religious significance of ancient India. These stupas were built by Emperor Ashoka the Great in the 3rd century BC. It is one of the oldest stone structures in India and was built by Emperor Ashoka to keep the remains of Buddha.
Modern Day Sanchi Stupa
Today, Sanchi Stupa is the center of attraction for thousands of tourists, historians, and pilgrims. The site consists of several other stupas, temples, monasteries, and an archaeological museum that displays various artifacts found at the site. I will share some pictures of the museum which I took during my visit to Sanchi. Sanchi is about 46 km from Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. It is well connected by road and rail and the nearest airport is at Bhopal.

It must have taken me about 1:30 hours to reach Sanchi from Bhopal, after reaching there I bought a ticket which is mandatory for everyone. I had gone by bike so I got a chance to go directly to the stupa by bike. After reaching the top, I kept the unnecessary luggage in the locker available there. I kept my camera and water bottle with me, although water bottles and snacks are available there but I did not know that’s why I took that along too.
My Sanchi Stupa Exprience
I had just taken a few steps towards the Sanchi Stupa when I saw that it was much bigger than the stupa seen in books or pictures. And then I started capturing that whole area in my heart with my eyes, and yes, I also started taking some videos and pictures with my camera. My curiosity to know the stories of history settled in every part of Sanchi Stupa was increasing.
I took so many pictures there that I cannot tell you, perhaps I had never taken so many pictures on many trips till that time. Then after enjoying this historical place for some more time. I headed towards the Archaeological Museum to see some more relics related to Sanchi Stupa. I also took some pictures there, but I was not allowed to use Flash, so I could take only a few pictures, some of which you can see here.
