Introduction:
How To Travel As A Filmmaker: Hello friends, today I am going to share some information about travel filmmaking with you. If you want to enter the field of travel filmmaking or are interested in shooting travel videos and for this work you have to travel. But, if you do not know what things should be kept in mind and what methods should be adopted while traveling for filmmaking, then you are at the right place. Today I will share some travel tips and tricks with you according to my experience. With my tips, you will be able to enjoy your travel and also shoot your travel videos easily and some money will also be saved.
How To Pack For Travel As A Filmmaker
Suppose you have just started filmmaking. And, you are preparing to go on your first trip, you should think about the things you will take with you before leaving for the trip. The more things you carry, the more time it will take to pack them, which is going to happen again and again and it will be challenging for you. This is your first time, and as you gain experience, you can pack your stuff for your next trips. If this is your first trip, try to keep it for no more than 2 days and carry as little stuff as you can.
Essential Gear For Travel As A Filmmaker
For shooting you need a camera, if you have a drone then the drone and batteries too, and if you have a laptop then that too. If you are going to shoot videos at the place where you are going to stay, then keep a small light and a tripod with you. Keep clothes as less as you need, like 2 pairs of undergarments and 2 T-shirts and a pair of jeans will be enough for two days.
While traveling around the city, make sure to carry a waist bag in which you can keep your essentials like a camera with sufficient battery and a lens, you can easily get such a bag on Amazon for Rs 500-800. Because carrying a full bag all day will be very tiring and due to this you will not be able to enjoy your trip and it will also be difficult for you to shoot what you want.
Researching and Choosing Destinations
Because this is your first trip, I would suggest you choose a nearby city which is 100 or a maximum of 150 km away from your town or city. It will not cause you much trouble and you will reach your destination very quickly and you will also get some experience in travel filmmaking.
Let me tell you how you can start your travel filmmaking journey by exploring local or nearby places. For example, take Indore city in Madhya Pradesh of India, which is close to my hometown. As I suggested you plan a trip of a maximum of 2 days in the beginning, I will tell you accordingly how you can take full advantage of Indore in two days without spending much time.
You reach any place or city a day before in the evening. Find an affordable place to stay and keep all your stuff in your room and keep the necessary stuff like a camera and some batteries in your waist bag and roam around the city and you can take some cinematic shots like the atmosphere of that place or see any place which is near to your place of stay and eat dinner which you can according to your pocket. Come back to your room and if you have taken a drone then you can take some drone shots from where you are staying charge the battery and sleep.
Day 1 Rajwada Palace, Lalbagh Palace, Chappan Dukan Etc.
Wake up early in the morning, finish your daily routine, and take the necessary things with you. If I were in your place, my first location would be Rajwada Palace which is a beautiful symbol of the Maratha structure and is very beautiful. Due to less crowd in the morning, It will be easy to take good shots and pictures. so I would have taken some good shots and take photographs.
Then from there I would go to Lalbagh Palace and capture the beauty of the era of the Holkar Empire with my camera, there is a very beautiful garden there, and I would take some shots of that too. Then there is Sarafa Market nearby, I would roam around the streets there and take cinematic shots with my camera and feel the ambiance around me. After spending some time there, I would come straight to Chappan Dukan which is one of the most happening places in Indore, and have my lunch there and go to my hotel to rest.
After taking some rest, I would go back to explore the city and go to Novelty market and explore the market then in the evening I would go to Rajwada Square and spend some time there and take some videos and photographs of Rajwada Palace and then from there I would come back to my hotel and while coming I would have dinner and charge all my batteries in the hotel, if I had time left then I would shoot a small video in the room itself in which I would tell my views about the city to my viewers and share the complete details of my Day 1.
Day 2 Patalpani Waterfall & Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary
For the second day, after checking all the luggage thoroughly, we will pack our bags and check out from the hotel because we will not be returning to the hotel now. I have chosen two locations, the first of which is Patalpani Waterfall. Because at the time when I am writing this blog, it is monsoon time and at this time the waterfall looks very beautiful and people from far and wide come here to have a picnic. Patalpani waterfall is about 40 kilometers away from Indore, for this, you have to leave in the morning so that you get enough time to spend there. Here you will get very beautiful cinematic shots and if you have a drone, then very beautiful drone shots can also be taken. You have to be careful here, do not take any risk in taking cinematic shots, because many people have lost their lives in this. Take care of your safety.

Our second beautiful place is Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary. Though I would ask you to come here in the morning, our trip is for only two days, so we will have to do it this way. But if you have a chance, then try to come in the morning because nature and wildlife shots will come out better in the morning and you can capture the animal activities and the beauty of this place very well for your travel film.
It will take almost noon to cover these two locations, so we will have lunch while returning and then head towards the bus stand or railway station from where we will get a vehicle to return home. So this is how you can plan your first travel filmmaking trip, or this is how you will travel as a filmmaker.
